Fear Creates Limitations

James Mapes
Articles by James Mapes

Fear creates limitations and is the killer of creativity. Fear breeds guilt. Fear is a short-term motivator and makes people adverse to risk. Fear is at the root of self-imposed limitations. Recognize manipulative, dominating and controlling behavior and eliminate it as a style of communication.

"So let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself" - nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance.
Franklin D. Roosevelt

Fear lies and manipulates. Fear inhibits us from facing challenges and taking risks. Fear clogs us with guilt, perpetuates the cycle of worry, and lets the imagination run wildly out of control. Fear distorts reality and focuses on imagined obstacles and problems. Many of us think that logic, will power, or conscious reasoning can overcome fear. If only it were that simple.

Fear is False Evidence Appearing Real. The first step to turn fear into power is to accept full responsibility for your choices, behavior, and the reality of what you now have in your life. The second step is to have the courage to acknowledge and examine your fears. One of the greatest fears you have to deal with is the fear of change. When you are able to deal with the fear of change you are able to continuously reinvent, renew and live life with passion.

Let James Mapes help you and your organization conquer the fear of change with his dynamic program:

"The Challenge of Change - A Matter of Perspective"

Break out of the comfort zone! Learn how to overcome the barrier of resistance. The way people view change can make the difference between defeat, mere survival or Quantum Leaps. Mapes offers practical suggestions for fostering an environment that challenges common assumptions. He shows how to perceive change as an opportunity to excel and demonstrates to participants how to view themselves as leaders.
