James Mapes is the founder and president of The Quantum Leap Thinking Organization and the creator of The Transformation Coach™. His mission is to help individuals, teams and organizations identify and break through barriers to achievement.

Mapes is dedicated to educating, coaching and encouraging his audiences to be open-minded about new options. It is his goal to help people make the "quantum leap" toward more creative, productive and confident lives. By breaking apart traditional thinking, he challenges his audiences to redefine commonly held assumptions and misconceptions about "creativity," "positive thinking," "motivation," "fear," "imagination" and "teams." His message to business promotes thinking "outside the box" and mastering perception so that, in his words, "the invisible becomes visible and the impossible, possible."

Under the umbrella of his Connecticut-based corporation, James Mapes is a keynote speaker, consultant, personal excellence coach, seminar leader and author. He is an ardent student of human behavior and communication who continues his research in the creative process. He writes for training industry publications, producing an ongoing series of self-improvement audio programs and lecturing at university campuses. He also creates and produces training films. Creating Our Future was rated one of the year's ten best by Successful Meetings magazine. James is the author of Quantum Leap Thinking: An Owners Guide to the Mind and The Workbook: The Magic of Quantum Leap Thinking. He is presently writing his new book, LOVE MATTERS: An Owner's Guide to Creating the Best Life Possible.

In 1983, he founded the Quantum Leap Thinking Organization, to bring the human potential movement to the business community. Since then, he has worked with hundreds of public and private companies in more than a dozen countries. His clients range from the health care industry to international financial institutions, from training and development divisions of large corporations to the Young Presidents' Organization.

Companies, associations, universities and business schools have quoted Mapes in training manuals and textbooks. Organizations that have included Mapes are IBM Corporate, the U.S. Coast Guard, Lockheed and The Princeton Center for Leadership Training. The U.S. Office for Substance Abuse Prevention incorporated Mapes' chapter on vision in their 5-day training curriculum delivered nationwide to recipients of the OSAP Community Partnership Demonstration grants.

James Mapes' success as a speaker and as an authority on creativity, communication, teamwork and coaching traces back to his training as an actor and experience as a theatrical producer. He studied at California State University, graduating in 1969 with a Master's degree in theater. He worked in repertory theater, off-Broadway and directed two of his own theater companies before appearing regularly on daytime TV. His film credits include Three Days of the Condor, Taxi Driver, Star Trek VI, Star Trek: First Contact and the suspense thriller, Do You Wanna Know a Secret? In October 2007 he was seen in Conversations with God. As an actor James developed a unique stage presence, confidence and a special talent for connecting with his audience. His experience producing and directing led to a cutting edge understanding of the dynamics of successful teams.

In 1972, Mapes broadened his studies to include psychology, philosophy, neurology and hypnotherapy. He founded the New York Hypnosis Center and, as a clinical hypnotist, worked with weight reduction, smoking cessation, the elimination of phobias and pain reduction for terminally ill cancer patients. As a skilled practitioner of "age regression" he helped the New York City Police Department in "memory recovery" with both witnesses to, and victims of, crime. In addition, he has worked with athletes to help improve their performance. His private one-on-one coaching session is entitled, "The Transformational Coach: Change Your Life In A Day."

Mapes' many interests range from scuba diving, ballooning and racecar driving to philosophy and science – much of which becomes integrated into his lectures and writings. He also holds a black belt in Kempo Karate. One of James' favorite activities is presenting his one-man show, Journey Into the Imagination, at performing arts centers, theaters and universities around the United States. He appeared on Broadway in the Spring of 2003. When not touring, James and his wife divide their time between residences in Connecticut and St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Mapes lives his own message of continuous learning, focus, educated risk-taking & celebration. His presentations are personal, interactive, humorous and – create results. They break through "the intelligence trap" of rigid thinking and inspire passion in his audiences. James Mapes is a speaker who actually makes a lasting difference in the energy level, commitment and productivity of each individual in his audiences.
